Even when you’re sitting at your desk, you’re hurtling through space at great speed. Just how fast is a matter of how you measure: the Earth, for example, is whizzing round the Sun at a pretty good clip, but the Sun (and all the planets with it) moves around the Milky Way galaxy even faster. The galaxy itself is moving too, and we can measure its speed against the radiation left by the Big Bang.
